The most popular program for identifying your strengths is the CliftonStrengths assessment (formerly known as StrengthsFinder), developed by a psychologist named Donald Clifton.
The CliftonStrengths assessment is designed to measure natural talents. These are the activities you are hard-wired from birth to perform well. Your natural talents are the easiest to develop into strengths with education, training, and practice.
As explained in the book Dream Job Discovery, you can use your top-five CliftonStrengths themes as filters to identify job roles that would be a good fit for your dream job.
It takes about an hour to complete the assessment. There are two versions of the assessment offered by Gallup:
1. CliftonStrengths 34
This online self-assessment provides a detailed report describing how all 34 CliftonStrengths relate to you in rank order from strongest to weakest. You will learn which strengths will benefit you most in a job role and which weaknesses you should avoid if you want to avoid stress at work. This version of the assessment requires an investment of $49.99 and includes a copy of the StrengthsFinder 2.0 e-Book. 2. Top 5 CliftonStrengths
This is the same online assessment used for CliftonStrengths 34, but the report you receive will only explain your top-five CliftonStrengths themes, and there is no e-Book as part of this offer. A $19.99 investment is all that is required for this version of the assessment. Learn more and purchase by visiting: store.gallup.com/p/en-us/10108/top-5-cliftonstrengths
